Sales Development Representative
First a short conversation over my qualification. Second short interview with a different person about my motivation. A interview in Person with three different persons the last one being the head of the local HR department. Everybody in the company seemed very friendly and the overall atmosphere was nice (office dog, table tennis in the kitchen area, the girl showing me around stressed that people like to have a beer after work etc.). The people I did the interviews with were also respectful and nice. My problem started after the interview marathon. In the beginning I was told by one of the first interviewers that they will get back to me within a week or two. The head of the HR asked me when my deadline for this job is. I didn't quite catch on to this in the beginning when she asked me and said I would have a month or so. The next day they write me an email stating that because of some error in the system the process would maybe take a month or so instead of a week or two, and that they would get back to me. I already felt a little bad about this because I thought they were keeping me on the reserve bench so that if they don't find anybody better than me they can come back to me as option B. Well long story short after that I never heard anything from them anymore...they never got back to me. I think the way they treated me in the end was quite rude: 1) leaving me hanging for as long as possible [after already having done 5 interviews] as option B 2) don't even get back to them when they are not interested in the end
- What is your response if a customer states "I believe the future of phone operating systems lay in Blackberry OS"?
Sales Development Representative
I spoke with the lead sales development rep, who was really enthusiastic and easy to talk to. He asked me about my past work experience, what I achieved with my previous company, and my top two proudest accomplishments, whether from work or personal life. I thought it went really well. Since I've been interviewing a lot, I asked him directly what he thought about me as a candidate, if I'd be a good fit, and if I had the skills for the role. That's when I really respected the company. He mentioned they don't usually hire recent grads but would check with others. Less than 20 minutes after our chat, the recruiter emailed saying I wouldn't move to the next round. I wasn't upset because he was upfront about it, and honestly, I kind of expected it. This company is growing fast and has a great product, so anyone getting an offer should totally take it. I really appreciate how quickly they responded and gave me feedback on how to improve my answers for future interviews.
- Tell me about your motivation for pursuing a career in sales.
- What are some of your proudest achievements?
- Can you discuss your experience in your previous positions as listed on your resume?
Sales Development Representative
I cold called the sales manager, and she was really impressed that I was the only one who called her. She has great energy and I loved her attitude. I got called in for an interview the same day. They liked me a lot and wanted to move to round 2. I think there are 3 rounds total. The last one is meeting the CEO and getting the job offer. I really liked Double Dutch and had a great feeling about them even though I didn't get the offer. They took a chance on someone with no sales experience or degree, but they saw my drive and want a go-getter. They seem to really care about their team and want to help it grow. I met the director, the manager, and team leaders, and everyone was awesome. I really enjoyed the whole process. There were homework assignments. The first one involved figuring out how and who I would approach to sell their product idea in a specific scenario. The second homework task was to pick a product and sell the idea of why it would be a good choice for a company, even if they'd tried it before and failed, and had no budget left for the year. I liked that it was challenging and pushed me. They want to find the best candidates.
- What makes you want to be a SDR?
- Describe how and who you would approach to sell their product concept given a specific scenario.
- Choose a product and explain why it would be a good fit for a company, even if they've had prior unsuccessful attempts with it and have no remaining budget for the year.
