First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Double.
Executive Assistant
The whole thing took about a month. First, I had to fill out an online application with my CV and cover letter. Then, I got an online assignment where I had to respond to professional situations/emails, like the tasks an executive assistant would do. After submitting that, I was invited for a remote interview with Natasha, a manager on the Double team. Following that first chat, I had a 'final' interview with the Director of Operations & Finance. They sent me an offer three days after that.
- How would you approach assisting an executive who has no prior experience with an assistant?
- What are your career aspirations, and how can Double support you in reaching them?
- What potential difficulties might you encounter in the role of an executive assistant?
Executive Assistant
I applied online and 4 days later, I got an email saying I'm moving forward. I had to complete a challenge with 7 scenario-based problem-solving questions. If you're an experienced EA, it's easy. After submitting, I had a 30-minute video interview with the EA Manager who decides if you move on. The questions were easy. She said I'd hear back within a week. I got rejected within a week with no feedback. It's funny because I have 12+ years of EA experience and the interviewer had less. I think Double should hire a real recruiter, not have an inexperienced EA make these decisions. It seems like they also decide which executive you're paired with. This model is flawed. I'd rather find my own execs than have one person choose for me.
- Tell me about your remote work experience.
- How would you approach solving these specific scenarios?
Executive Assistant
Applied online. Got contacted a few days later with a questionnaire listing various scenarios I'd face as a VA. Assumed they were time-sensitive and returned it within the hour. A rep sent an email saying they wouldn't be moving forward and to ask her if I had any questions. I did and emailed her back, but never received a response. I have worked as an EA for 10 years at public and private companies and investment firms and have a securities' regulation credential so understand the VC world. Felt I was more than qualified and wasn't given reasoning for not moving forward, which makes me question their process and the validity of their interviewing methods.
- How would you go about planning an international trip for an executive?
