First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Double.
Virtual Assistant
Heather initially scheduled an interview, but then emailed two minutes before it began to reschedule because she wasn't feeling well. I never heard back from her. I then had to go online and reschedule another appointment several weeks later for the interview. I thought it went well, but then I received an email from someone else using the first person's email address, informing me I wasn't selected to move forward. I was surprised and confused, especially since they mentioned having a backlog of clients and not enough assistants.
- What motivated you to pursue a role as a "Double"?
Software Engineer
The interview process started with an initial phone call with a team member. After that, there was a take-home exercise. I only got to this stage. The initial chat with the team member was good, felt natural, and was easy to discuss business/product objectives, engineering goals, and the current product market fit versus future vision. My understanding is they're trying to balance executive assistance recruitment agency services with SaaS, operating as the former but with their own software-centric systems and processes. I think the interviewer mentioned there are currently 5 engineers on the team. It'll be interesting to see how they grow. The technical interview involved a take-home assignment focused heavily on front-end technology, requiring proficiency in modern React or TypeScript to succeed.
- Could you fix some bugs and add features to a calendar application?
Operations Manager
Applied through the careers page in late October and got a response from Natasha, the recruiter, about a week later. Had an initial video call set up via Calendly for the following week. Natasha was a great advocate for the company, very friendly and open, which helped build trust quickly. The call ran about 20 minutes over, which I saw as a good sign. She talked about the company's history, the team, recent headcount growth, funding, and hiring goals, then went into detail about the role. After that, she asked about my past experiences and requested real-world examples. We didn't move forward because of a mismatch in compensation expectations. It seems they have a rigid leveling system based on years of experience, and I suggested they consider skill mastery over tenure. I offered a salary range that was $20k below my current pay and also below my other interview opportunities. Natasha was very professional, leaving a detailed voicemail and following up by email explaining the decision.

Executive Assistant
I applied online and 4 days later, I got an email saying I'm moving forward. I had to complete a challenge with 7 scenario-based problem-solving questions. If you're an experienced EA, it's easy. After submitting, I had a 30-minute video interview with the EA Manager who decides if you move on. The questions were easy. She said I'd hear back within a week. I got rejected within a week with no feedback. It's funny because I have 12+ years of EA experience and the interviewer had less. I think Double should hire a real recruiter, not have an inexperienced EA make these decisions. It seems like they also decide which executive you're paired with. This model is flawed. I'd rather find my own execs than have one person choose for me.
- Tell me about your remote work experience.
- How would you approach solving these specific scenarios?
