We connected on Skype two times. All other communication was done via email or phone. They were super flexible with scheduling and it felt pretty relaxed. First I spoke with my manager, and then with some people from the team I would be joining.

They were pretty quick at first and explained the interview process really clearly, which was great. I had an initial interview, then did a project, and after that, I met with a few more teams. Unfortunately, their communication and follow-up really dropped off. The coordinator initially said they were reviewing the role and would extend the timeline by a week or two, but even though I followed up regularly, I was always told I'd get an update by the end of the week, and then nothing. I was ghosted. I was super excited about the role and the organization and really felt I connected with the interviewers, so it's disappointing that they treated candidates this way. They even rescheduled an interview with the founder on the day it was supposed to happen, and then it never happened. I think they might be internally disorganized, which led to this messy process, but employers should really be kind and communicate well since candidates put so much time and effort into applying.

I interviewed for an internship twice, once in 2013 and again for summer 2014. The first interview was over the phone, and the second was on Skype. Both interviews were pretty standard, asking me about my interest in the company. The Skype interview was really brief, and I felt like I was being rushed and didn't get to say everything I wanted to. After both interviews, I sent a thank you note but never heard back. I would have liked at least a confirmation email. Even though Do Something seemed like a good place to intern, the experience really put me off.

While I was at first taken aback with their nonconventional interview process, I quickly realized that their process is extremely transparent and communicative. Although I wasn't happy with the ultimate result I appreciated how open and honest the HR person was every step of the way, this definitely mirrors the attitudes and culture at the company. The only constructive note I have is helping to ensure that all technology works during Skype interviews.
