The hiring process involves an application, and then demonstrating your ability to deliver orders to customers promptly. Customers get upset if their food arrives late. Since customers are promised free food, they often look for reasons to complain. Given this, I make sure to cover all bases and document everything, keeping the app updated on the situation as I make deliveries. I also inform the customer if there's a delay in their food preparation.

To be considered for this self-employment role, you need a valid driver's license and a clean driving record. You also must have your vehicle registration and insurance up to date. A background check will be conducted. Be prepared to fill out a 1099 form and handle your own taxes.

I applied online and after about a week, I heard back from the recruiter for an initial HR chat. It was a pretty standard conversation about my interest in DoorDash and the specific role. After that, I had a chat with the hiring manager. We talked more about my background, and then she explained the job. She seemed to like me because she gave me the green light for the next stage right there on the call. The next round was split into two parts. First, I had to do an analytical task using a big spreadsheet. Then, I had two case interviews that were all about DoorDash's business. I waited about a week to ten days, and then got an invitation for the final interview. This was a two-hour session with a panel of leaders, including the hiring manager. We went over a small case study, but the main focus was on how I'd lead a team, build an organization, and my past successes and failures. It was also about my interest in DoorDash. I felt pretty good about it and expected to hear back within a week. However, it's been over four weeks with no word, which is frustrating. I reached out to the recruiter, and he said the team was still deciding and he was on vacation, but would update me soon. That whole delay and lack of communication has really soured my view of the process. Companies should be upfront with candidates, especially those who've made it to the final round, rather than leaving them hanging.
