Presentation Technical Coding

For a role at DoorDash, I first had to do a take-home assignment and then prep a presentation. The recruiter gave me clear instructions and I spent a lot of time on the data analysis and deck. But then in the interview, the interviewer totally skipped the presentation and instead gave me a live case study with a new dataset. I had to share my screen and solve it on the spot, which was not what I was told to expect. The live exercise itself was okay, but it was frustrating because I put so much work into the take-home and presentation. If they wanted to test live problem-solving, they should have said so upfront so I could have prepared differently.

Technical Coding Case Behavioral

I applied and then had an HR phone screening. Right after that, I got a take-home case study. It had a big dataset and I had 48 hours to clean it up, analyze it, and then write a report with recommendations. There were also some extra SQL questions. Then, I did two rounds of interviews that included both case study stuff and behavioral questions. After the last interview, I didn't hear back for days and then just got a standard rejection email with no explanation. It was a bit of a bummer considering how much work went into the case study and interviews.

Case Technical Presentation

First there was a recruiter phone screening. Then I had a case interview with the hiring manager. After that, there was a take-home assignment. The final round was a presentation to a panel. Unfortunately, another candidate was selected before I finished the take-home assignment. Make sure to have enough time banked in order to act fast. The project was to analyze two large data sets on calls the dasher support team received, answer questions about the data set testing your Excel skills, and then come up with recommendations on how to improve the support team's efficiency/effectiveness.

Confirmed questions4 questions
  • Brainstorm a policy for handling customer refund requests for concert tickets, including specific scenarios.
  • Analyze two large datasets concerning calls received by the dasher support team.
  • Answer questions related to the dataset, assessing your Excel proficiency.
