Behavioral Coding

So first I had a behavioral chat where they just wanted to learn about my background. Then I had to do a take home assessment. After that, the final round was a code pairing interview. They gave me an offer after that and I had about a week to decide.

I was contacted by a recruiter who enthusiastically described the company's current successes and future plans, which piqued my interest. They then arranged a technical phone interview. I was given an open-book problem beforehand and had devised a solution that I believe I executed well during the interview, considering optimal design, complexity, future extensibility, and code reusability. The conversation flowed well, extending beyond the scheduled time to discuss technologies, products, and my work experience. Unfortunately, despite the positive interaction, I received a rejection message stating I was deemed more suitable for a managerial role, which I have experience in. I found this humorous given my background and how I would personally handle such situations if I found a candidate I really wanted to hire.

The interview process was great. Everyone I spoke with was helpful, which made me feel relaxed. They were very transparent, and I always knew what to expect next if I asked. Response times weren't an issue for me, unlike others. There were some long waits between stages, but they kept me informed. I never felt out of the loop.
