Store Manager
I applied for a store manager position, and the initial phone call matched that. But when I went in for the in-person interview, they said there wasn't an actual store for me to manage right now. They were interviewing people to basically keep on standby. They offered me a different role, 'potential manager,' which was hourly and paid less. This job would involve working at different stores until a manager position opened up. When I asked about a timeframe, they mentioned 3 to 6 months, but were clear it could take longer.
- What is your willingness to travel outside your local area?
Store Manager
I had a phone screen with the recruiter, then I interviewed over the phone with the District Manager (DM), and after that, I interviewed over the phone with the Regional Manager. The interviews went great. I got offered the job and was told HR would email me, but then days went by with no email. The DM kept telling me they would send it, so I didn't worry about it. It's been over 3 weeks now and I still haven't received an email, and now the DM won't answer my messages. It's been a really bad experience.
- What makes you want to work at Dollar Tree
Store Manager
My first contact was a phone interview with the district manager in whose territory the store was located. The interview lasted about 30 minutes. Questions were primarily a review of my resume and follow-up questions. The second interview was in person and was essentially a 1 1/2 hour conversation covering my work history in depth and with some questions covering how I handled different issues that come up. The third interview was a 20-minute phone interview with the regional manager. Questions were primarily about recruiting and hiring employees.
- How do you handle a sales associate who isn't meeting performance standards?
- How do you prioritize your work tasks?
- Can you walk me through your previous work history?
