Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Dollar General.
Analyst
First there was a phone call with HR, then a call with the hiring manager. After that, I had an in-person panel interview with managers I'd be working with and the VP of the department. To check my technical skills, a manager from another department came in.
- Tell me about a challenge you've faced and how you overcame it.
Analyst
It was three step interview process. First, a phone interview with HR. Then, a phone interview with the Direct Hiring Manager. Finally, an in person interview with the Direct Hiring Manager, Director, and Senior Director. The in person interview was formal but pleasant. The company really values being able to provide intelligent insights and wants to know what you can bring to the table to help the company keep succeeding.
- Can you tell me about your biggest strengths?
- What would you consider your greatest weaknesses?
- Describe your ideal working environment.
Analyst
It was a pretty standard corporate hiring experience. There were way more interview rounds than seemed necessary given the role and pay. Honestly, it felt more like they were just seeing if they liked talking to me rather than actually checking if I could do the job.
- What's prompting your departure from your present job?
