Sales Representative
I first chatted with a recruiter who was really nice and seemed genuinely invested in finding a good match for both me and the company. At the time, I wasn't looking to switch jobs, as I got this opportunity through a referral, so I asked her to give me a couple of weeks. She actually got back to me sooner than that with a new opening that came up. So, I went in for the first interview with a Director and a manager from his team. Since the manager I'd be working with was on vacation, I had to come back the next week for a second interview. About two days after that, the recruiter called me. We haggled a bit on salary, and I started the following Monday. They do conduct a background check, so just be upfront and you'll be okay. Make sure to ask questions about your role, the whole process, what they'd suggest for you as you get started, what challenges they faced, growth opportunities, and work-life balance. The more questions you ask, the better. Most importantly, show them you're really interested in the job.
- What past experiences make you a valuable addition to our team?
- What have you done in your previous work experience that will make you an asset to our team?
Account Manager
I was contacted by HR after an internal referral. The first call was about an hour, very casual and low-pressure. Within 24 hours, I was invited back for the formal process. On the interview day, the same HR contact greeted me, and I had a one-on-one chat, followed by two separate one-on-one meetings with two different managers. The whole experience was informal, and standard interview questions weren't used. My main issue was being left waiting alone in the interview room for 30 minutes without any update before the first interviewer arrived, who apologized saying a previous meeting ran late. Apart from that waiting time, the entire process was very relaxed.
- Why would you want to work for a sales-focused company?
- Why are you interested in a sales-focused organization?
Marketing Manager
I had a recruiter call first, and then I went in for a face-to-face with five team members. They all seemed great and gave positive feedback. Afterward, I met with the VP of Marketing who mentioned they wanted to integrate the SEO Manager role into the one I applied for and shift some people under me. It felt like a good match after more discussion. The last person I met with even said the team really liked me. Surprisingly, three days later, they called and said they loved me but couldn't get the role funded as initially planned, and were reverting to the SEO role at a significantly lower salary. They asked me to consider it at that level, which was much less than my previous salary. I was surprised and disappointed because I checked the application, and it was for the role I applied for, not the SEO one. It felt rude to be interviewed for a role that wasn't approved, and no one apologized for the wasted time.
- Can you share an experience where you restructured a website?
Marketing Specialist
I had three separate meetings with team members. It was a long process. At the end, they said they were interested and I'd hear from them within a week, also asking me to let them know if I received another offer. After that, I heard nothing. I followed up twice with HR, and they said I was still being considered, but HR never followed up with a decision. It's basic courtesy to close the loop, especially after someone takes time off work for interviews. They are still advertising the role 7 months later, which is confusing.
- How does your past experience relate to this role?
