First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at DLR Group.
Market Sector Leader
DLR Group has an age discrimination problem in their hiring. The online application makes you put in graduation dates and other things that hint at your age, which doesn't show your skills or experience. Also, they ask for certain qualifications for a job but don't have spots for them on the online form.
- Could you tell me when you graduated from college?
Designer
I went through a couple of interview processes. One was with the project manager and a lead designer. Then I transferred locations, and there was another interview with my new direct lead and an HR person. Both sets of interviews were pretty straightforward and didn't take too long, and they were nice about it.
- Can you tell me about your strengths?
- What about your weaknesses?
- Walk me through your experience and key accomplishments.
Mechanical Engineer
I applied and heard back about three days later to set up an interview. The entire process took about a month because of the holidays. The first interview was with a senior associate about two weeks after applying. We talked about my past work and the company culture. It was a good, respectful chat. The next day, I was asked to schedule a second interview with the regional discipline lead, which happened about a week later and was similar to the first. I got an offer a week after that.
- Can you describe your previous work experience?
Proposal Marketing Manager
The hiring manager was really awkward and rude, reminding me of someone I interviewed with last year. After the strange Teams interview, I checked my emails and realized it was the exact same person from a year ago! It's wild they called me again, as the previous interview was just as creepy and I wasn't selected. I guess this company isn't great at keeping records. It does show that whoever got the job then must have quit within a year, so I'm quite relieved I didn't leave my job for it.
- Tell me about your experience with proposal marketing.
- What makes you a good fit for this role?
- Can you walk me through your resume?
