Disney+ Hotstar Product Manager Interview Questions

Hotstar is known for not getting back to candidates after interviews. There are four rounds total: problem-solving/product design, analytics, strategy, and a bar raiser. My first two rounds (product design and analytics) went well, so the recruiter scheduled the next ones. My strategy round didn't go great, so I asked to reschedule the bar raiser because I wasn't feeling well, but the recruiter pushed me to do it, saying it would be hard to find another time for the panel. I didn't have a choice, so I went ahead, and it didn't go well. I thought I'd get rejected after the bar raiser, but surprisingly, they called me for an HR round. It was a general chat, and they asked about my salary expectations. I mentioned wanting to reschedule the bar raiser, but the recruiter insisted I do the interview then.

HR reached out to me by phone. The process involved an initial HR call, followed by a round with the Head of Department, and then four elimination rounds. These elimination rounds included Product Strategy (led by a Senior Product person), Product Design (conducted by a PM), a technical round, and finally an analytics round. Unfortunately, I was eliminated after the second elimination round. The interviewer posed a question that even they seemed unsure about. Although my earlier rounds were positive, I suspect my performance in this specific round led to my rejection, possibly due to the interviewer's ego. It's frustrating when two senior individuals have assessed me positively, only for a junior person, who is also unsure of their questions, to have the final say.

My interview experience with Disney+ Hotstar was really great. The interview process was transparent and the feedback from each interview was shared very promptly. HR clarified all the doubts I had w.r.t the process and the interview schedules were well planned and communicated. My interview experience was also amazing. The panelists were well prepared and the interviews were focused on previous experience and case studies. Overall, an enriching experience.
