Cruise Staff
It was the best interview and selection process I've ever been through. The recruiter was super calm and understanding. For my role, I had an interview, an audition, and a final interview. She explained everything to me and we had a relaxed chat. During my audition for the role, I had to act, dance, and sing. Since my acting wasn't the best, she made sure to refer me to another position so I could have the opportunity to work with them. Now I'm in the process of documentation, medical exams, and visas to get my embarkation date and ship.
- How can I create magic for the company?
Stage Manager
The interview is happening on Zoom and they're going to ask you some really detailed questions that need you to give in-depth answers. The person interviewing you might be kinda hard to read, so it could be tricky to figure out if they like your answers or what they're expecting. Also, you gotta be available between 4-8 a.m. for this.
- Can you share your experience?
- Tell me about a time when you faced a specific situation.
Project Manager
The first interview was fine, though the hiring manager was swapped out last minute for a senior project manager. They asked standard questions. They wanted a second interview, which was a panel interview where I had to present a take-home assignment. The assignment was supposed to take 5-6 hours and they wanted the interview the very next day. I worked on it late after my job, staying up late. Then, I got a call cancelling the interview, they decided to extend an offer to someone they interviewed before. It's really unprofessional to make 4 people do such a big take-home and then not let them present it. Don't waste your time.
- Can you explain how you go about identifying project requirements?
Bartender
The interview process is handled by consulting firms, which differ by country. In Argentina, Caux is one of the agencies. The interview has several steps: 1. Submitting your CV, which must be in English. It's important to follow the instructions closely to provide the information they need. 2. A first interview with Caux where they'll discuss life on the cruise ship, contract details, and other basic info to gauge your commitment to the job. 3. A technical interview in English with Caux, including an English proficiency test (you likely need a score above 70% or 80%) and a technical knowledge exam in English (for the bar role, this covers drinks, cocktails, and service). 4. An interview with a Disney Cruise Line representative who visits Argentina. It's crucial to have reviewed what was asked in the written exam. For example, I was asked about American beer brands, which I hadn't answered or looked up for the exam. The representative brought it up in the interview. Use the exam to your advantage by researching anything you missed; it will be helpful in the interview. This interview is in English. 5. Waiting for a vacancy to open for your position. I submitted my CV to Caux in December 2016 and started with Disney in December 2017. However, for positions with higher turnover, you might start sooner, depending on the role.
