The interview was more about vibes than checking skills. They ended up hiring me as a personality hire. It was a chill chat, then they asked me to make a couple of drinks: one classic of my choice and then two of their main drinks.

Had a 1-on-1 chat with someone from HR. We went over my CV, talked about my previous work, and then they asked me some scenario-based questions about how I'd deal with different situations. Sometimes they'd ask about the full customer experience, from when they walk in until they leave, like the specific steps of service and what I'd do.

  • What's your strategy for managing demanding circumstances?
  • Could you outline the complete customer service journey, from their entrance to their exit?
  • Walk me through the service steps you'd follow with a customer.

Group Presentation Behavioral

It was a group interview, they tried to keep it interactive during individual interview time also. They told me I wasn’t interactive enough, but I was answering questions about their history and speaking up in group activities suggesting ideas for the menu, which is strange as we wouldn’t have much knowledge about this type of food. Dishoom should do 1vs1 interviews because the staff aren’t attentive. I’m competent and know my flaws, so the feedback about me not being interactive enough was inaccurate. If you interview here, you need to be very in their face with your knowledge to get noticed.

I applied online and received a text through Harri inviting me to an interview. It was very straightforward, but they were running behind and I had to wait 45 minutes before speaking to anyone. We were offered drinks while we waited. The interview itself was quite short because it turned out that full-time hours for them meant exactly 40 hours per week with no flexibility at all. While it's fine that they have no flexibility, I wish they had clarified this in the advert so I wouldn't have applied. It's not uncommon for full-time hours to mean anything between 30-50+ hours per week. If the advert had been updated to reflect this, or if preliminary phone interviews were conducted to filter out applicants who didn't fit the requirements, it would have saved both me and the interviewer a lot of time. Apart from that, the team was friendly and the atmosphere was nice.
