DISH General Intern Interview Questions
& Process

The interview process has four steps. First, they had me submit a video interview. Second, there was a phone interview with a recruiter. Third, if you passed the phone interview, they send you an assessment to complete. I believe I did not do well on the assessment so I was unable to proceed to the fourth step. The fourth step should be a business interview with some engineers I believe.

The interview process was quite long, but it made me feel really excited about the role. It kicked off with a recruiter phone call, not a typical on-campus meeting. There was also an info session. An alumna suggested I apply. After that, I had a formal interview, followed by an online assessment that felt like taking the SATs. It was really challenging, and according to a friend who used to work here, it's a major reason why many candidates don't get hired. It included a math section, an English section, and an online data assessment involving questions like "What is YouTube Analytics?" and interpreting symbols. The second part wasn't as tough and wasn't weighted as much. Once I passed that, I had to create a video cover letter, which was easy for me. They provided topics to address, so I just recorded myself and sent it in. Finally, I had a Skype interview with the person I'd likely be working with for the summer. Honestly, it was a lot to expect for an internship interview, but it seems like it will be worth it.

I initially applied online through my school's career site, where I had to submit a resume and a general statement. After that, I was selected for a Skype interview with two interviewers. They asked me to discuss my resume and skills. Following that, they asked me some questions, like why I wanted to work for DISH and where I saw myself in 5 years. The next part of the process involved three exams: one in math, one testing basic understanding, and a modern section with questions about social media, computers, and so on. I felt I did well on these, but I didn't make it to the final round, which would have involved DISH flying the potential interns to Denver. I'm guessing they only pay for a few people to fly, as it seemed quite competitive.
