Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at DISH.
Account Executive
I interviewed with Boost Mobile, a division of Dish. My candidate experience was terrible. If you're interviewing with Dish or Boost, run the other way. They first made me take a bunch of assessments, and one of them broke and timed out before I could finish. One of these assessments is apparently used for law school candidates. Then, they put me through 3 rounds of interviews, making me waste time and money visiting prospective locations in my territory. After all that, they ghosted me and never told me if I got the job. This company should be ashamed of how they treat candidates, especially in this job market.
- Can you share an instance when you had to ask someone to do something challenging?
Sales Executive
This company uses the Work Opportunity Tax Credit, meaning they get a tax break for hiring certain individuals. I was upfront about my record from the start, and I brought good references and over six years of customer service experience. My first virtual interview went well—the interviewer was enthusiastic and asked me to bring three resumes to the next meeting, which I did. At the in-person interview, the interviewer didn’t even take the resumes, saying they already had my information online. The day after, I received an offer letter, which I signed, and they soon asked me to leave a Glassdoor review, which felt odd. They then ran a background check, and I was open about my record from the start, even providing letters from my church Bishop and employment specialist as references. After a month of waiting and reaching out to their recruiter, they finally responded, saying they couldn’t move forward due to my background, despite my transparency throughout the process. I’m in school, working toward my bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, and determined to move forward regardless. Your loss, not mine. God bless.
- They had me do a role-play, and the interviewer said I performed better than many people who have been working in sales for years.
Account Executive
I had a few interviews for the Senior Account Executive role. It involved a lot of sales questions and skill testing. They explained the call center environment and how the commission plan works. We also got a tour of the center. Typically, there were two interviews done together, and then a side-by-side session with an agent to review calls.
