Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Discovery (South Africa).
Banker
It was pretty straightforward, with entry-level questions. Started with a call, then some assessments, and an online interview. The panel had 2-3 people, followed by a scenario-based interview. Focus on stating clearly what was discussed in the interview, not specific opinions or stories. This summary should guide what to expect from the interview, not what the candidate actually said.
- Can you describe your approach to handling challenging clients?
Banker
Interview was good. I was interviewed by a friendly panel. Overall experience was average. Questions weren't difficult and they made me feel at ease while they were interviewing me. Process was somewhat enjoyable. It took a month to get a response.
- Can you introduce yourself, tell us about your qualifications, and walk us through your CV?
- What is your understanding of this role?
- What interests you about working at Discovery Bank?
Banker
I had my interview over MS Teams, and it wasn't too tough. The people interviewing me were nice and I felt pretty relaxed. After the first part, we immediately moved into a role-playing part, which made sense given the job. They wanted to see how I'd deal with clients.
- What's your approach to handling pressure?
- Could you tell me why you left your previous position?
- What are your career aspirations for the coming years?
