I applied for this job back in February 2014, and a recruiter contacted me about a week later. At the time, I was still in college and wasn't eligible for immediate hire. However, as graduation approached in April, I followed up, and Discovery arranged an interview for me at their NYC office. I had two interviews there. The first was with HR, which involved very standard questions. The second was with the sales team. This interview took place in a busy office with six other people present. The Director seemed very uninterested. I've never felt so dismissed or ignored during an interview as I did at Discovery. They had been conducting interviews back-to-back for several days, and it was clear they had lost interest. It was a terrible interview experience.

After sending in my resume and cover letter, I had to fill out this unique application on their website. It asked questions about the company and my opinion of some marketing efforts. Then, I had a phone interview that was about 20 minutes long. The questions were typical but specific to the industry, and he tried to figure out my interest in the position and industry. He was really insightful and answered a lot of my questions. A week later, I did a video recording interview where I had to answer set questions within a 3-minute time limit.

The interviewer really tries to make sure you're a good fit for the company and that the company is a good fit for you. The staff was helpful. This company wants to really encourage its employees to love the brand and get what their roles are supposed to be. The main thing the company needs from someone in this role is the ability to move up in the company. They'll tell you the goals clearly if you ask.
