First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Discovery Clothing.
Sales Associate
I applied in September, before the holidays. I brought the application back on a specific date for an interview with the store manager. There were a few other girls there too. The first interview was short and 1-on-1, right in the middle of the store. After that, they said they'd call if they were interested. I got a call back for another 1-on-1 interview with the store manager, this time in the back office. We talked more about the job expectations and they asked questions about why I chose Discovery, about myself, customer service, and what I'd do if I saw someone stealing. They asked me to sign a background check form and said they'd call if I got the position. I got the call and was invited to orientation, where I signed a lot of papers and reviewed rules with about 10 other hires.
- Why did you choose Discovery?
- Tell me about yourself.
- What are your customer service techniques?
Sales Associate
After I called and set up an interview time, I arrived at Discovery Clothing the day of. I was led into the back warehouse, where I was interviewed in front of other employees who were walking in and out, it was awkward. I was asked typical interview questions. The interviewer seemed rushed and hostile. The interviewer asked other managers for interview questions without introducing us. It was odd. Afterwards I had to take a survey asking me questions like "Have you ever shoplifted?" "Have you ever lied?" Etc. They are looking for obvious answers. Saying no you have never shop lifted, but yes you have lied, etc. is the way to go. Perfect survey scores are discarded, anyways. It shows that you're lying. The survey was the end of it, and they told me they would call me to let me know if I had been hired or not.
- What is your greatest weakness?

The whole thing took about two weeks. I first dropped off my application and had a quick chat with the two store managers right then. They then set up another official interview. During that one, the manager asked a bunch more about my previous job, like what exactly I did, what my supervisor's role was, and how I handled tough situations. It was mostly all about my past work! After two weeks, they called me about the job orientation, and I started the very next day!
- Be ready and know every detail about your previous job because they're going to ask a lot of questions about it.
