First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Discovery Clothing.
Cashier
I applied and had an interview on the spot. They did not hire me. Nobody called me to inform me of that. I applied the second time as the same thing but this time they hired me. I wished later they did not and that I had checked this site first. For my reason please read the Glassdoor employee reviews.
- What makes you want to work for this company?
Sales Associate
After I called and set up an interview time, I arrived at Discovery Clothing the day of. I was led into the back warehouse, where I was interviewed in front of other employees who were walking in and out, it was awkward. I was asked typical interview questions. The interviewer seemed rushed and hostile. The interviewer asked other managers for interview questions without introducing us. It was odd. Afterwards I had to take a survey asking me questions like "Have you ever shoplifted?" "Have you ever lied?" Etc. They are looking for obvious answers. Saying no you have never shop lifted, but yes you have lied, etc. is the way to go. Perfect survey scores are discarded, anyways. It shows that you're lying. The survey was the end of it, and they told me they would call me to let me know if I had been hired or not.
- What is your greatest weakness?
Part-Time
Applied in person. Got called twice to see when I can come in for an interview. Then got a call the following Monday for an interview the same day. Went in and met the hiring manager, who asked me some questions about my availability. Even though I had no experience, she was very understanding. Then signed a paper for a background check. Was told she would call tomorrow to come fill in paperwork and when to come into the office later that week.
- What is your availability?
- What would you do if you caught someone stealing?
- Imagine you were a manager, how would you handle an employee who was stealing?
Sales Associate
The whole thing took about two weeks. I first dropped off my application and had a quick chat with the two store managers right then. They then set up another official interview. During that one, the manager asked a bunch more about my previous job, like what exactly I did, what my supervisor's role was, and how I handled tough situations. It was mostly all about my past work! After two weeks, they called me about the job orientation, and I started the very next day!
- Be ready and know every detail about your previous job because they're going to ask a lot of questions about it.
