Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Directi.
Web Developer
I applied through glassdoor only. The interview process took 3 days. First I got a call from HR who asked me some basic questions related to my education and my resume. Then for the next day I was given a home assignment in which I had to code a webpage from a wireframe in 1 hour and submit it. Finally, I had a Skype interview which was completely technical. The questions were related to my coding assignment as well as the projects that I had mentioned in my resume. Overall it was a great experience as I learned which type of questions could be asked in an Interview for this job role.
- Could you explain the purpose of "use strict" in JavaScript?
- Can you provide a JavaScript function to check for palindromes?
- What is the distinction between opacity:0 and visibility:hidden?

It was a pool campus drive with over 400 people. The first round was a coding round with two problems, and only 9 of us were selected for the next stage, which was the interview the following day. The interview experience was quite bad. The interviewer was casually dressed and seemed preoccupied with his own work during the interview. He asked me about 6 basic coding problems, which I solved. He then tested them and left without giving me direct feedback. Later, a peon informed me I was rejected. Apparently, the interviewer didn't even know the Memoization technique for Dynamic Programming. Another friend of mine also got interviewed; during their interview, the interviewer was more focused on the pizza being served outside. My friend was asked random questions about their PC setup and their skill level in Counter Strike, and then rejected after just two questions. I'd heard DirectI hires very few people, like 2-3 annually. Maybe bringing pizza helps get hired.
- Could you reverse a singly linked list?
- Write a function to check if a linked list is a palindrome.
- What is the Nth number in the Fibonacci Series?
Web Developer
The hiring process was good. The interviewer was good and was frank. It started with basic questions. Both iterative and recursive solutions were asked for. He scanned the resume and asked questions about the projects done and about the extra curricular and technologies used.
- Asked questions on finding the Fibonacci series
- Asked questions on finding prime numbers
- Asked questions on recursive variants for Fibonacci and prime numbers
