The first step was a coding test done virtually with a Direct Supply engineer. I got to pick one of five coding problems and had about 24 hours to get ready. If I passed that, the final interview was five 30-minute interviews back-to-back with managers, directors, and engineers, making it a 2.5 hour interview session. These could go pretty fast depending on how things clicked.

Behavioral Technical Coding

This was a multi-stage interview process. First up was an online one-on-one where they asked about my resume, group challenges, and team communication. There was also a simple skill assessment to see my thought process and problem-solving approach. It's really important to talk through your steps and show how you're tackling a problem, even if it's not perfect. The next step involved meeting with team managers to understand their roles. They asked about my team skills and resume-related challenges. I believe there was a third round planned, but I didn't get to it. Although I didn't move forward, I got a callback which was appreciated, and they offered encouragement for future applications. It was good not to be ignored and to get feedback on how to improve.

I had a positive experience interviewing with Direct Supply overall and would consider them again, but their candidate experience could be better. The time it took from start to finish was a bit too long, though I understand why. If they're focusing on culture fit, the interviews should be more geared towards that. I enjoyed talking with everyone during the onsite interviews, but only the session with the Director really went beyond just talking about the role and my experience to actually get to know me and see if I fit the company culture. This might be because the 30-minute time slots go by very quickly. Communication could also be improved. Direct Supply did a good job of keeping me informed until after the second onsite interview. However, after waiting 3-4 business days for a response, I had to reach out for an update because I had another offer. I ended up declining that offer, but due to the lack of communication for over a week, I felt forced to give an ultimatum for an offer, which put me in a difficult position.
