The interview process was very standard and followed a set procedure. However, the atmosphere was relaxed, and I didn't feel interrogated. It wasn't a tough interview.

So first, there was a 30-60 minute phone screen, which was mostly a "getting to know you" call. After that, I had a 3-hour coding challenge that was directly related to the position. My in-person meetings were about 1.5-3 hours each. I met with the CEO, the CTO, and at least two other employees at each place. They gave me some whiteboarding problems (coding, algorithms, and brainteasers), let me talk about my past work, and we talked about cultural fit. The cultural fit part took up more time than the exercises, more so than at bigger companies. One company considered my track record and public portfolio, which made my in-person interview longer. I heard later that some of my coworkers in the same role had interviews up to 8 hours and also got coding challenges, which I didn't.

The interview was nice, but I quickly realized that this wasn't a place where I could advance rapidly. While the company has a really flat structure, which is a plus, it's mostly run by the family. This means there isn't much opportunity for advancement in this specific role.
