First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Digital Realty.
Human Resources Business Partner
The agency (R.H.) initially told me it was a 1-year contract HRBP role that would involve sharing Talent Acquisition duties with two other HRBPs. However, in my first interview with the hiring manager over the phone, she revealed it's actually a TA manager position because she wants TA to be more focused, allowing her current HRBPs to handle other tasks. She also mentioned she's still waiting for approval for a permanent headcount. My second interview was two weeks later, face-to-face, with one of the HRBPs. It felt more like a casual chat, which was good because of the openness. Two weeks after that, I followed up with the recruitment agency for feedback, but got nothing. I then emailed the hiring manager to thank her and ask for feedback, still no response. It's been over two months, and I haven't heard back or received any feedback.
- How would you handle a situation where the business wants more than 5 interview rounds for a non-critical role like an engineer, and how would you manage both the business and the candidates in such a scenario?
DevOps Engineer
So the interview process had 3 main parts. First, a quick call with HR, about 30 mins, just to chat about my background and what I'm looking for salary-wise. Then, a technical interview with the team lead, that one was an hour long. They hit me with questions about Linux sysadmin stuff, Docker, PostgreSQL, and some real-world troubleshooting problems. Lastly, I had a final chat with management about my past projects, how I'd fit with the team, and the general company vibe. Pretty smooth and professional all around. They got back to me with feedback pretty fast, within 3 days.
- The interview process consisted of 3 stages: 1. Initial phone screening with HR (30 minutes) - discussed background and salary expectations
- 2. Technical interview with team lead (1 hour) - Linux systems administration questions
- Docker
Director of Solution Architecture
I had 2 interviews. The hiring manager was late for both, about 20 minutes for the first and a whopping 45 minutes for the second - I guess he forgot. The other interviewers were super professional and apologized for his tardiness. They explained the role well and asked how I saw myself contributing to the company.
- In what ways do you foresee AI impacting the design and architecture of datacenters?
Operations Change Manager
I really enjoyed talking to the hiring manager and thought the interview was of average difficulty, mostly behavioral questions. However, the recruiter really soured my experience and gave me a poor impression of the company. I'd give my availability and wouldn't get scheduled for weeks. In the end, I withdrew my application and took another offer. The chats I had with the hiring manager were great and the company seemed like a good fit - I just had a really bad time with the recruiter.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Describe a situation where you had to deal with a challenging stakeholder.
- What's your approach to choosing the most effective communication method?
