First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Digital Extremes.
BI Developer
They tested your ability to provide answers as though you were already part of their team, rather than evaluating your skillset directly. Despite offering a relatively low salary and presenting a highly complex dataset, they expected you to approach the assignment as if you were already employed there. I believe this expectation is unfair.
- Technical Test with big dataset
Associate Product Marketing Manager
I interviewed with DE over the course of 4 months - while a longer process than I initially anticipated, the team and HR staff were there for me any time I had questions and explained where they were at during the process at every stage. For the interviews themselves, I did two stages, one with a senior manager and the other with the larger marketing team. Everyone I interviewed with were great, and you could tell they cared about culture fit as much as they cared about hard skills. I was already intrigued before my first call but the kindness and professionalism that the hiring team showed during the interviews quickly made DE my first choice.
- Can you outline how you would develop a positioning statement for a marketing campaign?
Multimedia Specialist
So first there was this skill test thing, with a really tight deadline, and then a follow up interview. Since everything was still kinda weird with Covid, we did the interview on Google Meet. It was with one person from HR and a few of the designers I'd be working with. Everyone was punctual and kept to the schedule, which was great. We had plenty of time to chat back and forth, and it felt professional but also friendly. I actually liked getting to know the team and seeing how they all work together. Honestly, it was the most relaxed and fun interview I've ever done.
- Can you share an instance of a project you handled with very tight deadlines and how you managed to adapt?
- Could you describe a project you're particularly proud of and explain the reasons behind your pride?
Technical Designer
So, there was a bit of a mix-up at the start since I applied for the wrong role initially due to some confusion with the agency. When we got to the interview, the hiring manager and I realized it wasn't the right fit. But, I brought up the Technical Designer role, which I was really keen on, and they were open to it, so we shifted focus to that. The process kicked off with a technical challenge using Lua and the Love2D engine. Following that, I had an interview with the lead Technical Designer and someone from HR. The final step involved another meeting with the lead designer and a few other designers, with an HR person present throughout. Everything went pretty smoothly, and everyone was quite supportive and respectful, plus we had some laughs along the way.
- Regarding your technical test, how could you have improved the script, and what bugs did you notice?
- Can you discuss your thoughts on multiplayer implementation?
- Could you elaborate on performance considerations?
