First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Digi International.
Software Engineer
First there was an initial call with the HR. Then an online screening test that included coding in python and C/C++ along with linux admin and scripting questions. The process was quite simple, straightforward and transparent. At the end of online screening test, it showed the results by stating the %/rank among contesting candidates as well the score.
- Can you explain binary tree search?
- Tell me about a sliding window based question.
- Were there any coding questions in Python?
Software Engineer Intern
I applied at the career fair and got a call later that night for an interview. The next day, I went in and spoke with 3 engineers. We had a good connection, and they asked some general questions about my background in programming and preferred classes, then a few semi-technical questions. There was no coding involved, but they wanted to gauge my problem-solving and design skills.
- How would you design a robot to navigate and complete a maze that has no cycles?
- What is your design for a phone?
Software Engineer
It started with a phone screen from HR, then a chat with the hiring manager. After that, I had an onsite interview that took up most of the day. The whole thing was pretty fast, done in about a week. But then, things really slowed down. It took them more than three weeks to get me the offer, and they wouldn't budge on any of the terms.
- Could you write code to print a string multiple times?
- How would you find occurrences of a specific string within an array?
