I applied online and they called the next day for an interview. I called them back, they did a short phone interview then asked me if I was interested in coming in for an actual interview, I agreed and met the manager on Monday. I spent 45 minutes basically retelling my application so the manager could write it on her computer. I honestly did not see the point in filling out an application if they weren't going to use it. This interview was a few days before a holiday so they said that I wouldn't hear anything from them until the following week. The next Tuesday I received a call from the application advisor, she had more questions. Unfortunately I missed the call, so I called her back, she wasn't there so I left a message. We played this phone-tag game for almost 2 weeks(she never once picked up the phone and it would take her 3+ days to return my message) until she FINALLY told me what "questions" she had, which was basically my schedule. I called back (again she never picked up) and told her my schedule, I was open for the hours they wanted me to come in for. That was a week ago and I still haven't heard back.

You can apply internally in January and July each year to be considered when a position opens up. After you fill out the application, you give it to the Store Director to sign and they will add their recommendation. Then, HR will call you to schedule an interview with one of their representatives. HR then sends their review to the Area Supervisors, and they make the final decision on who gets the position when it becomes available, so the person in the pool can start right away. If the Store Director only gives a good review, you will still interview, but you're already on the list of people not moving forward.

Behavioral Technical Other

There were two interviews for this role. First, I had a phone interview that was set up via text shortly after expressing interest. After that, I waited a couple of weeks for a second call. In the second call, they asked about my interest in running a specific shift at a Dierbergs location. I confirmed my interest, and we scheduled a Zoom interview. Before the Zoom interview, I had to complete an online assessment that took about an hour. I then did the Zoom interview. It seemed to go well, and I assumed I'd hear back given the time and effort I invested. However, I received a generic, non-reply email stating they were moving forward with another candidate. I'm left unsure about what I did wrong or what qualifications I lacked, and unfortunately, I likely won't ever know. It felt disrespectful to dedicate so much time and patience only to receive a template rejection email.

I applied online on Monday and got a call back on Tuesday, but I missed it. I called back Wednesday afternoon. The recruiter, who worked out of a different location than where I applied, had a quick phone interview with me about my availability for shifts and the pay rate. She mentioned that the supervisor at my local store would review everything and I'd be notified either way about the job.

  • Can you share an instance where you managed a difficult or unhappy customer and explain your approach?
  • Describe a situation where you exceeded expectations to assist a customer.
