First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Diebold Nixdorf.
Software Development Engineer
I had an HR call first, where we discussed the job details and my experience with specific technologies and payment domains. Then, I went through Technical Round 1. It began with questions covering all the technologies I listed, plus some tricky ones. After that, there were coding questions where I had to provide explanations. Finally, I was asked to describe the architecture of my current projects and my role in the core layers. I passed this round. The next round was also technical. It involved good problem-solving questions. I admit I forgot some syntax. There were also in-depth questions about SpringBoot and Java; I managed to answer some but not all. Unfortunately, I was rejected after this round. The interviewers were professional and knowledgeable.
- What are your Java Core questions?
- Can you explain the Agile process?
- What are message brokers?
Software Engineer
I got a call for a job in Canton, Ohio. The recruiter was kinda rude and kept cutting me off. We talked about my resume, and she said the next step would be a panel call with the hiring team. They really don't like it if you say your degree was online or if your GPA is competency-based, she was not happy when I mentioned that.
- Can you describe your interest in devices, like ATMs?
- Could you discuss your GPA?
- What are your salary expectations?
Software Engineer
The interview process had 2 main parts: an aptitude test and then interviews. The aptitude test had 35 questions in total, with 15 technical questions and 20 general aptitude questions, and you had 60 minutes to complete it. For the technical part, you could choose between electronics or computer/IT, depending on your academic stream. The difficulty level was from moderate to tough. After the aptitude test, there were 3 interview rounds: a technical round, a director round, and an HR round. The technical round's difficulty varied with your stream, but it was a bit easier if you were from an electronics background. The director round was a bit tricky; they asked typical questions to check if your motivations were valid and if you would fit into their company culture. The HR round was mostly a formality.
- Could you write a program to generate the Fibonacci series?
- Explain the bubble sort algorithm.
- Describe how to implement a linked list.
