I interviewed via phone, Skype, and then in person. It was going fine until the end with CAO/President, Renee Roozen, when she asked about compensation. I said I wanted an adequate salary for the position and my background, but she insisted I had to state a number immediately. I asked for time to consider, but she demanded an answer then and there. She also asked a rude question about my unemployment. When I asked about the salary range for the position, she refused to answer and seemed disgusted, then stormed out. I felt she threw a fit because she didn't get her way, which is bad management behavior. She also bad-mouthed a potential future boss, pointing out their skill weaknesses to me, and said she'd do the same even if that person were present. I noticed two people I met had been there less than a year, and other reviews mention high turnover. This company's management seems to have a 'my way or the highway' attitude and potentially deep issues with their behavior. I'm glad I'm not working at Dickey's corporate.

I was contacted by HR for a corporate marketing role. We had an initial phone screen, then I was set up with an interview with someone from the department. After my initial phone screen, I did research on Glassdoor and saw horrible reviews about the corporate environment (very structured hours, tardy slips, micro-managed, high turnover, crazy CEO). I knew I didn't want the job after reading the reviews, but I figured I'd continue interviewing for the position, just for the experience, plus I wanted to ask about some of the negative reviews. The interview went very well, despite my efforts to troll, and I was invited to interview with the HR Director, next. At this point, I decided not to waste more of my time and declined the invite. Do your homework and check out the reviews before applying or accepting an offer at Dickey's.

I applied online and got an email from the CAO for a Skype chat on Sunday. It went well, and I was asked if I wanted to move forward. On Monday, I got an invite to interview with the Director I would be replacing. This phone interview on Tuesday also went well, and she said I was what they were looking for. An hour later, the CAO called and asked if I could come in within 30 minutes to meet the CEO. I told them I was 50 minutes away, and they said to come anyway. As I was parking, the CAO called again, said my interview was canceled due to schedule changes, and they'd call with updates. A week later, I emailed the CAO about my availability for the next two weeks. After another week, I was told about a phone interview with the SVP for the following week. On the interview day, he called to reschedule for later that day. The interview went well, and he said he'd talk to the CAO. A week later, I emailed the CAO again with no response. I then emailed the Director from the second interview and was told they were still interviewing. The next week, I emailed the CAO once more and was informed they'd offered the job to someone else. Completely disorganized and disrespectful. They lost a customer and a great employee.

They wanted to get to know me as a person, rather than asking questions with a right or wrong answer like "what would you do in this situation...?" They asked about my interests, my life goals, and what I wanted to get out of working with the company. They didn't care about what I had done in the past or ask open-ended questions that someone could get answers to offline. They really made me feel like they wanted to know me.
