Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at DFS Group.
Assistant Manager
It was a smooth conversation with two interview rounds, one with the Manager and another with the Director. However, the hiring process dragged because of HR bottlenecks. They want candidates who are adaptable and can handle various responsibilities.
- Tell me about your hobbies.
Assistant Manager
The interview process involved a phone screen followed by an on-site interview. During the on-site, there was a group panel interview. They also included a store walkthrough to give me a feel for the work environment. It was a good experience overall.
- Can you describe what constitutes good customer service?
Management Trainee
Got contacted for a first intro phone call in early Jan. They asked me about my CV, availability, and graduation date. Then, a second phone interview with HR, which was about 90 minutes long and had over 30 profiling questions. After passing, I went to a group assessment that took all afternoon. We started with a company presentation, then broke into groups to solve two cases each. We also had to review another group's case solution and decision-making. Next, I had a face-to-face interview with a manager who revisited my CV, expectations, and motivation. The final round was in February with another manager, doing the same kind of interview. I was told I'd hear back in March, but it's now June and no response despite emails asking for feedback.
- What are your long-term aspirations within DFS?
- How would you handle a sensitive situation with a friend?
- What makes you the ideal candidate for this position?
