Executive Assistant
The HR phone interview was conversational and nice, not intimidating at all. I had a great chat with the HR person who was thorough in describing the company and its policies, and also asked direct questions about my experience and qualifications.
- What part of your last job did you not like?
Administrative Assistant
Okay so first off, you gotta be super prepared. DDI, they invented the STAR method. You know, Situation, Task, Action, Results. So, they're gonna ask you about stuff from your old jobs or school, like what was the situation, what did you have to do, what did you do, and what happened because of it. If you messed up or coulda done better, that's okay too, they call that STAR/AR. The whole thing can take like up to 4 hours. There will be 3-4 people interviewing you, each for about an hour. It's super in-depth and intense. They're grading you on stuff like how you adapt, how you manage work, building relationships, handling stress, and they're checking out your communication skills too. Just try not to get too nervous. Look up DDI and what they do beforehand, and you'll be good. The interviewers are nice though, they'll try to make you comfy and give you breaks if you need 'em, which you probably will.
- Can you tell me about a time you collaborated with a colleague or team member to reach a compromise?
- Describe an instance where you had to adjust to a new situation or challenge.
- How do you approach managing your responsibilities and deciding what to do first?
Administrative
This was a super long and detailed interview process. It took me 3 months and over 20 hours total to get through everything. The process included online personality and character tests, five in-office tests (math, word usage, Microsoft products), a homework assignment, and a long phone interview. The HR department initially didn't see how my current job related to the role, but after I asked for more testing, they gave it to me. It turned out the job was exactly what I do, but even more intensely. I felt like I was overqualified. DDI seems overstaffed; the job had been open for months and they weren't in a rush. The HR process wasn't organized, and I felt strung along. After my last interview, they said I'd likely move on to meet the team. When I didn't hear back for two weeks, I followed up with HR, and a few days later they told me I wasn't selected.
- Can you tell me about a time you forgot to do something at work? What was it? Why did you forget? How did you fix it?
