Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Dev Technology Group.
Applications Developer
I first talked to a recruiter, then had a technical phone screen where we talked about my bootcamp projects and general programming concepts. After that, I had an on-site behavioral interview in DC where the project leads went over the project's past and future.
- Could you explain the difference between ORM and ODM databases?
- What is your understanding of scope in Javascript?
- What motivates your interest in this position?
Application Developer
So I had a phone call screening with the recruiter, Arianna. She asked me about my future goals, my background, and some project details. Then I had a technical interview where they asked me about my experience with the tech stack for the project. They really focused on whether I could do the job, which was great. Arianna called me later that evening with the offer, which made me so happy!
- What are your future goals for the next 5 years?
- Can you explain the use cases for the useMemo hook in React?
Applications Developer
I found the posting for Dev initially through LinkedIn. After researching the company, I was impressed with the supportive and diversity inclusive company culture statement on their website and applied directly to them. A recruiter, Arianna, reached out to me, went over the role and answered any initial questions I had. Since this is a remote role and I do not live in VA (HQ), I was curious on how widespread the company was. I like being involved and it was great knowing that Dev has remote employees throughout the country and strive to include everyone in company initiatives and activities. I moved onto the next step, which was the interview. I met with a panel of developers and the project manager. After a series of tech and coding questions directly related to the role, I was given the opportunity to ask team oriented questions and everyone was very responsive. I received the offer a few days later. Overall, this was the best interview process I have experienced. Each person I interacted with was responsive, honest and approachable.
