I was walking around downtown Philly on a Sunday and handed out my resume, mostly to boutiques but decided to try maternity stores too. I walked into Destination Maternity and the sales associate there told me her manager could talk to me. The manager came out and was super nice, she got interested in me and asked about my name, background, and resume. She then offered me an interview on the spot for the next day. The interview went well and she said I'd hear back in two days. I could tell the company culture was tight-knit and focused on helping expecting moms feel comfortable and fashionable.

After applying online, I had a phone interview about two weeks later, which lasted 20 minutes. Then, later that same week, I had a second phone interview that was 15 minutes long. The following week, the district manager called to set up a 1:1 interview for the week after that, so my first in-person meeting was in week 4. The DM was really nice and seemed genuine. They gave me a tour and the interview was pretty thorough, lasting at least an hour. I didn't hear back until week 6, when they asked me to come in for another 1:1. During this second 1:1, they offered me the position, and this interview was about 30 minutes long. Overall, I felt all the interviews were handled very well and professionally.

The interview process was a positive experience. It was really clear that the team is small, and the designers who interviewed me seemed to genuinely enjoy their jobs. It felt like a friendly environment with designers who are hardworking but also practical. The headquarters were very clean, with lots of pictures of mothers and babies, making me think they probably have excellent maternity leave policies.

I got a call and they set up a time for me to come in. It was a great interview until they asked me about my future goals with the company. Once the interviewer realized I wanted to move up and might be competition, I didn't get a second interview or hear back. Upper management should watch their current employees because they might be overlooking good applications on purpose.
