First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Despegar.com.
UX Researcher
The process had 4 interviews: HR, a technical test, coordinator, technician, and manager. The process was very easy, though very slow. Internally, structural changes are constant. This means the ability to adapt also has to be constant.
- Tell me about your previous work experiences.
UX Writer
The process was long but very neat. They contacted me via LinkedIn and then I had: 1. A screening meeting with the UX leaders. 2. One with the Head of People. 3. A technical challenge (demanding). 4. A session to defend my challenge. 5. A final one with who would be the Sr. Manager of my team. 6. Finally, the offer. They respected my timing when I got married and went on my honeymoon in the middle. With that interruption, the process started in January and (considering psychometric, pre-employment, and notice period) I started working at the company in early April.
- Can you describe yourself and your past work?
- How do you handle your time?
- What's your method for tackling tasks?
UX/UI Designer
It's a really long process, they tell you very late and they have zero empathy. You start with an interview with someone from your area, then another one with HR (which could totally be just one combined interview). After that, they send you a challenge, followed by a feedback meeting, and finally, a last interview with the head of the area. They take forever between each stage and never give you visibility on timelines. It's common for people to be late for calls.
- Can you tell us about the company's recovery post-pandemic?
- What benefits does the company offer?
- What are the standard office hours?
