Product Owner
Initial test: Logic, math, and business questions, with a minimum of correct answers required to move forward. HR: The lady joined 15 minutes late and was multitasking the whole call. The questions were pretty generic and she didn't show interest in my responses. Team Manager: Much more pleasant. We talked about my experience, career path, and interests. It also included business questions aimed at evaluating logical reasoning. The process was normal, although a bit long. I didn't advance to the next stages, but they told me that the following interviews had the same dynamic: analyzing live business cases with leadership members. In total, there would be about 5 or 6 interviews, I don't know if it's really worth it.
- Approximately how many daily customers do you estimate for Despegar?
- Given two clients needing assistance, one with a $10,000 purchase and another with a $100 purchase, which one would you prioritize?
- What is your understanding of how Despegar's business model operates?
Product Owner
I had 5 interview instances for a product owner position and didn't get any feedback after the last one. All interviews (except the first with HR) were mainly based on 'logic' questions and practical cases, most of which weren't related to the role. I get the use of these kinds of exercises, but it's not necessary to evaluate these skills in every interview. You'd assume if you exceed expectations in the first one, the following should focus more on role-specific questions or experience. In the final interview (with the area's senior manager), there wasn't time to discuss my experience, going almost directly into these cases.
- Questions like: how many people are on the subway in bsas at 10 am?
- how many sneakers are sold per year in argentina?
- how do I measure the height of a building with a barometer?, etc.
Product Owner
- Tell me about your studies
- Tell me about your previous experience
- Why were you interested in the position and the company?

“how many sneakers are sold per year in argentina?”
Read reports →“There are only three fare types, A, B, and C, for traveling from Lima to Easter Island, all costing $300 but with different restrictions. In 2011, fares A and B combined accounted for 50% of the tickets sold. 4,000 more tickets of fare C were sold than fare A. Additionally, 2.5 times more tickets of fare C were sold than fare B. If airline X is the sole operator between Lima and Easter Island, what is the market value in dollars?”
