Creative Director
I applied for a Creative Director position at Designity and went through their interview process. I put in a lot of effort, including recording multiple video responses. However, they rejected me without giving me any clear or constructive feedback. The process felt more like a test of unpaid work than a real assessment of my skills. It took way more time than usual in the industry, and it wasn't clear what they were looking for. People thinking of applying should know they might spend a lot of time with no real result or feedback. If you're thinking about it, be ready for a long and possibly annoying experience. I think they should rethink how they evaluate candidates to be more respectful of applicants' time.
- What are your thoughts on remote work?
Creative Director
Designity doesn't take resumes, so don't waste time tailoring yours. When applying, I was asked some questions and given links to my recent work. After my profile was chosen, instead of a screening call, I got a prompt to answer some questions on video. The next step was an invitation to a workshop with other candidates. It's a timed challenge where I got digital materials similar to what a client might give before a project starts. I had to pay close attention to the client's video, complete a request form, build a project timeline in Google Sheets, develop three project concepts, and film a video with creative instructions. It was harder than it sounds because of the time limit. Also, be aware that the Miro board uses a lot of memory, potentially slowing down your browser. Overall, it was a good experience. They even offer a small payment for the workshop to acknowledge your time and effort.
- Regarding your workspace and remote work capabilities, can you elaborate?
- Could you share some of your favorite projects?
- What significant challenges have you overcome?
Creative Director
This was a unique and fun hiring process that lasted about 2-3 weeks. It involved an application, an interview, and a workshop/test. I applied for a fully remote Creative Director position. The application was interactive and different from the usual CV submission. The interviewer was great and asked good questions. I liked their interesting business model from the start. I made it to the workshop stage, but I felt the test was a bit rushed due to time constraints, and the person leading it seemed a bit impersonal. Overall, it was a unique experience, and I'd love to join a company that does things differently.
- Can you share your experience within the Creative World?
- Describe your work structuring process.
