Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Designit.
User Experience Designer
First, I had an interview with 2 senior UX designers, which lasted about 30 minutes. We talked about my previous work and study experiences. Then, I had an interview with someone from the HR team to discuss things like my visa application, housing resources, and so on.
- Can you show your past work/project experience?
- What are your expectations for the job?
- What is your expertise and what do you want to do during the period?
UX Designer
I applied for a job and the recruiter was nice at first. The role they first offered wasn't really what I was looking for, but they found another one that sounded good. The interview process felt pretty professional and I felt encouraged. The first interview went great, and they said they wanted to move forward. But then, they just stopped communicating. I sent emails, but no one told me what was going on with my application. It was really disappointing because they seemed good at first. It's just not cool to not communicate, even if it's a no. Being upfront is important.
- Could you describe the role you typically assume within a team setting?
UX/UI Designer
I applied for a job at Designit Munich and a recruiter from Designit Madrid got in touch. We had an interview and it seemed to go well. She told me she'd email me in a couple of weeks, but I never heard back even though I tried to follow up. It felt unprofessional and disrespectful, especially after putting time into the interview. It seems like I'm not the only one who's had this experience based on other comments, which is a shame given the effort applicants put in.
