Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Design Bridge and Partners.
Senior Designer
I had an initial online interview with the recruiter, they explained how the agency works and the type of professional they were looking for. The second interview was also online, but with two very friendly Design Directors who made me feel at ease. Unfortunately, after three weeks, I didn't hear back. I sent a formal email expressing my interest, but got no response. It's frustrating to be ghosted during hiring, it's becoming the norm and it's not good. The 'busy' excuse is ridiculous; HR is supposed to work with people. If they can't do that, what does 'human resources' even mean?
- Can you discuss two projects from your portfolio?
- Walk me through two of your design works.
Designer
A recruiter from the London DB team reached out about a Designer role. I had good initial and second interviews with the Creative Directors. But then the recruiter stopped responding to calls and emails, and I never heard back about my application status. It was a really disappointing experience. I was excited about the job, spent a lot of time prepping, and changed my schedule for the interviews. This isn't the first time this recruiter has ghosted me either; it happened before during a screening call. It felt like a big waste of my time and was unprofessional. At least giving feedback or an update to people who want to join should be easy.
- Looking back at this project, what changes would you have made?
- From your current role, what's a key takeaway you've gained?
- What's your motivation for focusing on branding?
Designer
Had a really nice chat on Teams. First, I spoke with the recruitment head, and then with the Creative Director. They seem like a great group of people, though they did mention some difficulties they're facing internally, like recently moving offices and the merger with Superunion. It was a very laid-back conversation.
- Could you walk me through two projects you're particularly proud of?
