Account Executive
The interview process at Descartes Systems for the Account Executive role was overall a good experience, focusing on both technical knowledge and how you interact with people. On the plus side, the interview was structured well with clear stages and different interviewers who each had specific things they wanted to assess. The conversations were interesting and informative, and the interviewers seemed really into the company and the job. They balanced asking technical questions about the product with simulations to see how well you communicate and solve problems. I also got feedback pretty quickly, within a week for the initial feedback and then the final decision not long after that. A downside was that there were long waits between the interview rounds, which made things a bit uncertain. Also, after getting the final decision, there wasn't much communication about what the next steps were. I'd recommend this interview process to others wanting an account executive job at Descartes Systems. Just make sure you're ready to show off both your technical smarts and your people skills.
- Imagine a potential client is thinking about switching to Descartes Systems for their logistics software, but they're currently using a competitor and are worried about the migration process and how it might disrupt their business. How would you handle their concerns and convince them to go with Descartes Systems?
Sales Executive
Started with a few recruiter screens, then had a sales aptitude test. After that, there were four recorded interviews, each lasting 60-90 minutes, all with the same person. I was told this was only halfway through. The salary seemed low compared to market rates, and having all interviews with one person was a bit of a red flag. They explained it by saying you'd make up the difference with commission. Weeks later, I got an email saying they were going in a different direction, with no feedback. This same job opening kept popping up from different recruiters over months, which made me think they were using a bunch of agencies. The problem isn't the recruiters, it's their super long hiring process and the low salary offer. Seems like they want a cheap robot for a key sales leadership role. They'll probably get what they pay for and have to hire again soon.
- Can you describe your leadership style?
Account Executive
The interview process was pretty in-depth, with four main parts. First, there was a recruiter chat, then an assessment, followed by an initial screening. After that, there was an interview that included a role-play scenario, and the final step was a presentation where I had to outline a 30/60/90 day plan.
- A series of multiple choice questions focused on behavior were asked.
