Project Coordinator
It was a 4 stage process. Started with 2 phone calls, one with the recruiter and another with the hiring manager. Then there was a project exercise, followed by 2 technical and cognitive tests. I completed all these steps and was asked by the hiring manager to provide my references. After I sent my references, I was ghosted. Two weeks went by with no word, so I reached out to the HM, but got no response. A week after that, I emailed the recruiter and was finally told I failed the technical assessment. So, after asking for references, you just let me know I failed? It took almost two months and over 15 emails for this outcome. Disappointing.
- What motivates you to join our company?
Project Coordinator
I applied for the project coordinator position on the DemandLab website and got an interview request a few days later. A recruiter sent me a Teams invite. The interview was kinda weird, honestly one of the strangest I've ever had. The interviewer didn't even turn her camera on, which is bad form, leaving me talking to a blank screen. Apparently, this is pretty standard for their recruiters based on other reviews. Anyway, the call went okay, and the recruiter said she wanted to pass me on to the hiring manager. Right after the call, I got an automated email saying the Teams call was recorded and that software called ReadAI took a picture of me and used AI to score me, all without me knowing or agreeing. The report was frustrating because the AI graded me on stuff totally unrelated to my job or experience, like my voice tone. Even though I got a high score, it felt sketchy to record or have AI evaluate someone without their consent. They should at least give a heads-up. Also, the company was offering way less than market value for someone with the experience they wanted. Typical job market stuff, I guess. It's not a fit for me. My advice: Hire recruiters who treat candidates respectfully and don't leave them talking to a black screen. And definitely don't take pictures or record people without telling them first.
- What prompted your departure from your previous role?
Project Coordinator
The first interview was a relaxed screening, and the second one was more technical, diving into my background and experience. It was a good, interactive chat where they seemed really interested in how I think. I noticed they used AI for meeting notes, which was pretty accurate. After the second interview, I got an assignment to complete in two business days, which was directly related to the skills they're looking for. Unfortunately, I didn't move forward after that. I do appreciate Demandlab's focus on being on time and professional during interviews, though.
