First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Deltek.
Software Engineer
I had 3 interview rounds. First, an HR Screen, then a 2-person panel interview, and finally an interview with the department head. During the panel, there were some basic technical questions. After those interviews, I had to complete an aptitude test. I felt the interviews themselves went well and the communication was good. It was a bit disappointing to be ghosted after putting in several hours for the role.
- Were there any personality-based questions asked?
- Did they ask any fundamental Java questions?
Software Engineer
A recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn and we had a 20-minute Teams chat. Then, I was given a small coding challenge to do at home. After they reviewed it, I had an in-person interview with the manager and someone who could be a future coworker, though I could have done it online if I preferred. We chatted for about 1.5 hours about the company, their experiences, my background, and what I'm looking for. They also did a code review of my challenge and asked me to explain my choices.
- Could you start by introducing yourself?
- Tell me about some of your projects.
- What's your preference between in-person meetings and remote work?
Software Engineer
So I went through 3 interviews. First was like a 15 min chat where they talk about the company and the role, and I talk about myself. Then the second interview was with a lead Sr Engineer. It was an hour long. He went deeper into the company, reviewed my resume, and asked some technical questions, but it was mostly a good conversation. The third interview was supposed to be a culture fit chat with the team, but it turned into a 30 min whiteboard session with the same guy from the second interview. We ended up talking for an hour, and he wanted to see my basic C# .net knowledge. We discussed what I know and different approaches. Overall, it was a good experience with quick communication, but I didn't get an offer.
- Can you explain inheritance and encapsulation?
- What's a good book recommendation for me?
- How do you keep your tech knowledge current?
