They have a good structured interview process with questions relevant to the work and not the difficult leetcode problems. The rounds were: 1. Assignment round with basic coding around an API. Once this is cleared, there is a hiring manager round to see if both candidate and the job are a good fit for each other. 2. Coding round with questions around maps and hashmaps. 3. Multithreading round with in-depth questions around volatile, synchronized variables. 4. HLL round. 5. Managerial round with someone from the US. I cleared all the rounds and was notified that I'll be getting an offer soon. Next day they shared the salary numbers as well. I just said give me 10 mins I'll think about it and confirm. And on this, they scheduled an HR round again and then stopped responding. I called for a week to get the response: we are having a hiring freeze effective immediately.

So I interviewed back in Q4 2017. It had a phone screen part and then a full day of onsite interviews. The phone interview questions were pretty standard, like what you see in other reviews. Delphix's process is fast, but they really need to structure their phone screens better. The onsite interviews were totally different from the phone screen and had medium to hard algorithm questions. If Delphix wants people with that level of problem-solving, they should at least hint at it in the phone interviews by asking similar questions. This would save everyone time. Having totally unrelated phone and onsite interviews doesn't make sense and will probably lead to bad onsite conversion rates.

Recruiter reached out by email and we set up a call. She gave me some company info and set up a technical phone screen with an engineer. The interviewer was cool and I aced the coding problem within the time limit, so I thought I'd get an onsite. A week later, I got a rejection email, which was pretty standard. I emailed the recruiter for feedback, and after a few tries, she said my coding skills weren't strong enough. I was shocked because I thought I did great, writing super efficient and clean code. It feels like a waste of my time and caused me stress since I'm job hunting elsewhere. My advice to companies is to be respectful of candidates' time and confidence. Seems like many others had a bad time here too.

  • Given a string, like "123", transform it k times by counting digit occurrences and appending the count plus the digit. For instance, "122333" run once becomes "112233", and run twice becomes "212223".
