First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Deep Instinct.
Software Engineer
Two interviewers asked questions that were not relevant to the role and only focused on what they had prepared. When presented with information they were unfamiliar with, they declined to investigate. They were only interested in hearing specific, pre-determined answers.
- What are the SOLID principles?
- Can you write a SQL query that uses the UNION operator?
Senior Software Engineer
The process involved a remote interview with the team leader about implementing LRU caching and lists, followed by an HR interview. Then, there was a remote interview with the "architect" where I had to design a system for receiving agent events and sending priority-based notifications. Finally, I interviewed with a Manager. Although I cleared all the technical interviews, and the HR mentioned they were great, the process dragged on for two weeks between each interview. I was anticipating an offer when the HR suddenly stated that I didn't have enough experience. It's puzzling why they'd proceed through the entire process if they already doubted my suitability. Additionally, the HR forgot about a previous interview, requiring me to remind her, which felt unprofessional. I wouldn't recommend wasting time with this company.
- Implement LRU caching.
- How do you remove a node from a list when given a pointer to it?
- Design a system to receive events from agents and send out notifications based on priority.
Software Engineer
I started with an intro call with the recruiting manager. Then there was a 4-hour take-home assignment where I had to build a small kernel module. After that, I had a system design interview with the recruiting manager (who is the team lead). We talked about a rough design for a product like the one I'd be working on. Once I passed that, I had a technical and personal interview with the VP of Engineering. Finally, an HR interview and then the offer.
- Can you describe how you would design a product that is similar to our main product?
