Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Decathlon.
Sales Advisor
First, there's a brief phone contact, followed by an interview with one of the store managers. The interview lasts about twenty minutes. It starts with a quick overview of the candidate's background and then moves directly into a standard discussion to get to know the candidate, although there are a few technical questions.
- Considering your interests in running and hiking, how would you approach working in the fitness section?
Sales Advisor
I applied online. The store manager called me that same afternoon for a phone interview (about 20 minutes). Some questions will be asked again in the next interview. No tricks, if you are passionate about sports and customer relations, the interview should go well. They really want to understand your personality.
- Why Decathlon?
- What are your professional goals?
- Are you willing to relocate?
Sales Advisor
I had an interview with a recruitment agency and then with a department manager. Decathlon was looking for candidates for a new store opening and offered comprehensive training beforehand. In the end, the training was canceled without any communication from them after the recruitment sessions.
- Why Decathlon and not another brand?
- What are the store's flaws?
