First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Decathlon.
Management Trainee
I was asked irrelevant questions, and the interviewers were rude and seemed unqualified. Overall, I was very disappointed with the whole situation, though I'm glad I didn't get the job.
- What's your favorite subject?
Expansion Manager
The recruitment process is called DRD (Decathlon Recruitment Day) and it has two phases. Phase I is a Sports round, which is an elimination round to check your stamina. They just ask you to run, and the longer you run, the better your chances of being selected. If you don't work out daily (especially cardio), you won't make it to the next round. The sports round also includes a game where winning doesn't matter. Actually, you need to have a good network within the company to be selected for the interviews. Phase II consists of interviews, but I wasn't selected for it.
- How much do you have to sweat to get in for the interviews?
- Does your qualification matter to them?
Manager
It was just me and another candidate, not competing, with the whole team that would be working closely with us. We presented ourselves one by one in a friendly vibe. There was a simple scenario: organizing a promotional event with the other candidate. A brief summary presentation. Then, the team split up and we went in turns into each part to answer questions in a very natural Q&A. That's when we really started to relax and felt very comfortable as the questions went on.
- What does a typical day look like for you?
- How would you re-motivate a long-tenured team member?
- Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
