First, a recruiter did a regular screen asking general questions. Then, I had a coding screen with an EM, which involved a typical LeetCode-style question. The final round had a few interviews covering LeetCode-style problems, system design, and behavioral questions. It was a pretty standard SWE interview process. The interviews all went well, and they kept moving me forward. The final stage also went well. About a week later, the recruiter told me my interviews were good but they weren't hiring anymore. It felt unprofessional to go through all that for nothing.

I had a really great interview with Dealpath! Their process was super organized and clear, and everyone was really helpful. The recruiter, Meaghan, was amazing. She gave me lots of info and answered all my questions. The interviews were set up well to see if I was a good fit. Everyone I met was nice and knew their stuff. Dealpath clearly cares about making interviews a good experience, and Meaghan was a big part of that. I'd totally recommend Dealpath and their interview process.

The interviewer mentioned that this role could lead to a manager position, which involves retaining customers with expiring subscriptions. I expressed my discomfort with sales/retention duties, but she assured me that the role could be promoted to a different area. I thought this concern would disqualify me, but she indicated she wanted to proceed to the next round and would email me for availability. That was a week ago. She either forgot, or changed her mind and didn't inform me. Regardless, leaving candidates without updates is rude. I suggest applying elsewhere.

Behavioral Case Presentation

A Dealpath recruiter contacted me on LinkedIn. First, we chatted about the role and their hiring status for their first Account Executive. I was asked about my qualifications, what made me stand out, and why I'd be a good fit. They said I had the right background and moved me to a phone screen with the Head of Sales. On that call, I addressed potential concerns about my lack of Enterprise experience, which wasn't an issue for him. He then invited me for an in-person chat where we discussed standard sales interview questions and my first-quarter plan. My lack of Enterprise experience still wasn't a problem. Next, I had an onsite interview with the Director of Customer Success and the CEO. I had to create and deliver a presentation about a software of my choice, opting for a product from a previous company I knew well. The goal was to sell it to 'prospective buyers.' While I felt the presentation went well, the CEO seemed uninterested, giving brief replies when I checked in. I was supposed to have 1:1s with other team members afterward, but after a short break, they decided not to proceed. The reason given was my experience managing a revenue-driven book of business versus new business, which I thought I'd already cleared up. While a valid reason, it's frustrating it wasn't resolved earlier, especially with the CEO's dismissive attitude. The CEO's unprofessionalism was a turn-off; I wouldn't recommend working there. I do wish the Head of Sales well, though; he seemed genuine and I would have considered working with him.
