Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Dealertrack by Cox Automotive.
Client Services Specialist
I had to fill out some stuff online and then record myself answering three questions on video. I never actually spoke to anyone. It's wild to me that a company would think recording yourself talking to a camera with no one watching is a good way to hire people, and it really ruins the candidate experience. Asking super general questions like that without any chance for human interaction is exactly why I wouldn't apply to DealerTrack again. It shows a real lack of care about the hiring process. A big part of interviewing is also the candidate checking out the company to make sure it's a good fit on both sides. The fact that they've made this a one-way street says a lot. I'm calling this interview 'Difficult' not because of the questions, but because the whole process is so terrible. The questions themselves are standard and predictable (and honestly, pretty pointless when there's no person there to talk to). There isn't even a category for the interview type because Glassdoor assumes no one would be crazy enough to remove the human element from hiring.
- Are you open to traveling 4 weeks a month, working nights, or weekends, and stepping in for support specialists when needed?
Client Services Specialist
I applied for the job on LinkedIn and got an invitation for a video interview about 4 days later. After I finished the video interview, which was 3 days prior, I got an email to set up a phone interview. I was interviewed within the week and right after the interview, I scheduled a video conference/Skype interview. The next day, I was flown to South Jordan, Utah for an in-person interview and received a job offer the following day.
- What outside skills would be helpful for this role?
Client Service Representative
The interview process kicked off with an online video interview, followed by a group screening. Then there were several one on one interviews with the management team, who were keen to know about my career aspirations and future goals.
