Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at DCI Engineers.
Structural Engineer
Standard interview process, nothing too wild. The interviewers were cool and the office had a nice, open, and collaborative vibe with lots of windows.
- Can you tell me about any work experience you have that isn't directly in engineering?
Structural Engineer
This firm has reached out to me multiple times about job openings. One of the people I spoke with didn't seem to understand what a structural engineer does, and sounded like they just finished high school. They mentioned I'd be meeting with the principals the following week, but that never happened. Despite going through all the interviews, I never got any follow-up. I was consistently told I'd hear back 'next week,' but it never happened. I've been ghosted repeatedly. I suspect this company uses and abuses candidates to get what they want, possibly to meet EEOC requirements. They even told me to leave structural engineering, even though I'm licensed in Texas, California, Washington, and Colorado. They seem to lie and psychologically abuse candidates. In one instance, an interviewer asked me to sleep with my wife, which was shocking. Others who heard the recording were also stunned that this came from a structural engineering firm.
- Can you provide all of our contacts?
- Can you tell me about your structural engineering work?
- What is your background in structural engineering?
Structural Engineer
The interview was pretty laid back. We chatted about stuff on my resume, and I got to ask some questions about the firm and the internship details. It happened in the lobby of the building.
- Were you enrolled in a course on reinforced concrete design or steel design?
