First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at DC Group.
Account Manager
I had a phone Interview with HR that was to review my resume, followed by an in-person interview with the National Accounts Manager, and then an interview with the CEO that lasted about 10 minutes. I would suggest talking about difficult situations and how you reached and approached quotas, and also your activities weekly, monthly, and tasks.
- Can you share an instance where you had to overcome a challenge?
- Describe your approach to overcoming difficult situations and meeting quotas.
- What are your typical weekly and monthly activities and tasks?
Field Service Engineer
I had phone interviews with Samuel and Curtis. Then they flew me out to their corporate office in Minneapolis. Samuel picked me up and we chatted on the way in. Once at the office, I took a basic electronics test and did well. I then spoke with Curtis, who is also in technical support. He was heading to lunch with a new hire he'd trained, but I wasn't invited. Instead, I was told to grab lunch on my own across the street and come back. After lunch, I spent more time in a conference room, not even meeting the Account Representative I'd be working with daily. I eventually met with the CEO, Jon Frank. The interview felt strange, and I told him about my experience, mentioning it was different from other interviews and seemed like they didn't value employees. I got an offer that afternoon and asked for two weeks to consider it and talk to the team I'd be training with. I asked about the corporate culture due to some negative reviews and got the impression that while account managers and field techs have good people skills, others in the back end might not. I think someone with better HR/interpersonal skills should manage hiring. The tech guys I spoke with for the role said the culture is different but if you perform well in the field, you just need to communicate with your account rep, do your 2-3 jobs a week, and be available for emergencies, making it a great position.
- Can you explain power electronics?
- What do you know about SCRs?
- Tell me about IGBTs.
Sales Executive
I got a call from DC Group, a quick chat they said. It was a phone screen, kinda awkward with silence. They asked my mantra. Then they asked if I wanted to interview in person. I said yes. The CEO interviewed me alone. It started late, then he took a 5-min call. When he got back, he seemed unprepared. I had to ask him about the job, why it was open, and about the company. He seemed to want to ask behavioral questions but didn't know what to ask. For next steps, he wants me to write a one-page essay on why I want the job and why I'm a good fit. An ESSAY?!
- Describe a successful cold-calling experience you've had.
Accounting Clerk
The hiring process starts with a pre-screening call from HR. Following that, there's a meeting with the hiring manager and some team members. The final step is an interview with the CEO. The whole thing took about 2-3 weeks and it was a good experience.
- Can you share an instance where you had an overwhelming workload and limited time? How did you handle it?
- What's the best way you see yourself fitting into the team?
