Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at DBS Bank.
Analyst
First, they looked at my resume and had a quick video call to see if I was qualified and interested. Then, I had an interview with the hiring manager or recruiter to talk about my background, skills, and why I want the job. After that, there was a skills test to check my abilities. Later, I met with potential coworkers and senior people to see if I'd fit in. Finally, they made a decision, checked my references, and I got the offer.
- Can you introduce yourself and describe your experience as a Business Analyst?
Analyst
I made it to the final round for a position in Private Banking. The interview was in-person with two senior team members. Scheduling was a mess and the interview itself was bad, really overboard and needs an internal review. The interview had discriminatory questions like being asked if I 'got along with other women' and then being questioned when I said yes. A senior ED also said they 'only prefer working with men.' This shows gender bias and doesn't align with equal-opportunity standards, especially for DBS. The tone was aggressive and dismissive. A senior leader said a junior got a full-time role because they 'made the way' and 'opened the doors,' not because of merit, which undermines a merit-based culture. It made me question reporting to such outdated leadership. They also condescendingly told me to send an email to reaffirm my enthusiasm at the end.
- How well do you get along with other women on your team?
- You're sure about that?
Summer Analyst
You will start with a 2-minute self-introduction, either in Chinese or English. After that, you'll be asked about your most successful or frustrating experience and to compare your strengths and weaknesses against competitors.
- Could you tell us about your most frustrating experience?
- Do you see yourself more as a leader or an observer?
- Who was the best performer in your opinion today?
